So Firefox 3 finally comes out and Mountain View-based Mozilla is all set to register itself in Guinness book of world’s records for the most downloads in 24 hours. Tuesday marks their official start. Mozilla is using geo IP information to get information on people’s locations and promises of not collecting any personally identifiable data.
There were 7,434,441 people pledged to download the browser by the time I write this post; even I am one of them from India. Mozilla is aiming for some 5 million downloads ( it’s already above 7 million ) in a single day considering Firefox 2 got 1.6 million downloads in a single day in mid-september.2006 .
Here’s is how it looks:-
Mozilla says “Firefox 3 is currently only being offered as a full download from http://getfirefox.com/“. So the downloading event has started. The way things are going I am sure Mozilla servers will melt down soon..they did 3 hours earlier as well.
The current download speed is going at about 8,000 per minute. This influx isn’t that unexpected and yes download Google toolbar for Firefox 3 if you are keen as me.
No problem if you got late…goes ahead and get Firefox 3 ….
