Earlier in the day, one of my friend was discussing Search engines functionalities towards ranking websites. He was arguing that META TAGS are still important.
Infact in my earlier post I have talk about Matt cuts view point in an interview regarding effective SEO and he said that META TAGS are of no use but still shouldn’t be overlooked as in search results as these tags are most often shown below Title.
The TITLE and META DESC. tag are something ones to focus on as they must be. Both should be relevant to the individual page and must not be flooded with irrelevant phrases also make sure that they must not be repeated often to avoid triggering spam alert to Google.
TITLE TAG: Maximum recommended Characters = 60.
META DESCRIPTION: Maximum recommended Characters = 150.
Yes TITLE TAGS still have lot importance in SEO for any site…it can make a difference of 100 + positions. But as far as META TAGS is concerned , its good to have keyword rich theme centric tags but one don’t have to stop there. There are lot many other factors worth consideration for effective optimization for Search Engines.

right . there only meaning is that they show up in search results.nothing more . 2 years back they have lot of value.

i just for google serps , yes title in blogs as in yours helps in higher rankings.

Well i don’t i know any thing more about it.But how much i have listened about it i think meta tags are extremely important.

You shouldn’t have to change your meta tags each time new content added. its not a good practice.

agreed.. changing them could decrease your ranking. it may affects.
