Knol: Google’s Wikipedia
Ok I am a week late on the story…but still it’s a think which need to blog. See Google released their version of Wikipedia on 23rd of July ( i.e. Knol ) by giving answer to Wikipedia who is probably going to release their own search engine. They announce it last December.

Knols are authoritative articles about specific topics, written by people who know about those subjects. The key principle behind Knol is authorship. Every knol will have an author (or group of authors) who put their name behind their content. It’s their knol, their voice and their opinion. I have noticed lots of medical related knols. Frankly this time round I think Wikipedia will prevail, it is definitely not easy to build up another Wiki from scratch. However their search engine is just a waste of time, for sure there is no distant competitor looking to Google and Yahoo , in the same way as Google Knol is no match against Wikipedia. I guess each needs to concentrate on their core competencies rather than spreading their resources too thinly. Wikipedia is better more information and knol after I look at it I just wana think that google need to hire someone to desgin it for them !
it looks cheap and nowhere close to wikipedia.
….interesting..this is the 1st time I hear about it…..I’ll have to take a look and see what it can do.
