Google trends is one of the tool in the google’s arsenal that shows most searched terms right from the beginning of 2004 till now. Well it’s here for some 2 years and I have been using it for the past few months on and off. But just yesterday I found some new functionalities in it and when I searched (ofcourse Google) I got to know that these are just updated earlier this week.
Now you also export / download the Google Trends data in .CSV format (for later research) which can be opened easily in most spreadsheet applications. Link is at the bottom : -

Here you can view the data on a numerical scale (on the Y-axis). These numbers aren’t exact search figures but the number you see next to your search term corresponds to its total average traffic in the given time frame.
Google trends never going to give the exact volume of searches during the time frame you have selected but the relative scale of the first term you enter with the other subsequent terms separated by commas. The first term you enter will always 1.0 and other terms are scaled and assign graphical figures in comparative form.
It shows the areas or languages from most searched are being done for your first searched term. It also shows the Google news stories written between the times of that spike.
For example one might see: web design company (1.0) and web design (3.24). In this case, web design keyword was searches above 3 times than web design company over the given period.
Play around with the google new trends….
