Disabling Awesome bar of firefox 3.0
Yes firefox 3 is fast , superb on memory handling and an excellent add-on manager. Its been far better compare to Firefox 2 who crashes so many times and have memory hogging issues as well earlier. But despite Firefox 3.0 excellent features I found this ‘smart location bar’ little annoying.

It just poped up the list of related titles and URLs. It make me feel dizzy coz of those tag clouds. So here’s I found a way to disable this ‘Awesome bar’. I guess many of you too feel the same after upgradation as most of the listed results were irrelevant cozing some hassles.
So here’s the list of steps which can disable it..
• In the address field of Firefox 3.0, type about:config, then press Enter.
• In the filter field, type browser.urlbar.
• Click on the line with browser.urlbar.matchBehavior, change the value to 0 (zero).
• Click on the line with browser.urlbar.maxRichResults, change the value to 0 (zero) also.
• Now exit FireFox and open it again.
And if any of you want it to behave like Firefox 2.0 then do the following :-
• In the address field of Firefox 3.0, type about:config, then press Enter.
• In the filter field, type browser.urlbar.
• Double click on the line with browser.urlbar.matchOnlytyped, the value will automatically change to true.
• Now exit FireFox and open it again.
Happy browsing…
I use opera as my main browser and foxfire as my backup
I love FF3. No complaints, except for the password one. It asks you if you want it to remember your password
not the biggest fan of the newish look, it’s less…..simple.
Hmmm … I’m using it on my work PC and my Mac OS X (10.4) laptop at home without any issues at all . it starts up faster than Firefox 2,new message boxs and options menu laid out in different ways.
damn….too slow.
Haha I disabled it . crap is crap
Had it, liked it at first, than not so much when things stopped working, laptop started going gag frequently.
Well, I myself do not like this bar because it searches bookmarks and not history.
